Bill Liners ~ picked up a Martin
guitar at the ripe old age of 9 and learned 'Dougs Tune' by "The
Dillards" to back up his older brother Eric who played banjo. Doc
Watson, Tony Rice and Dan Crary all influenced Bill's clean and
definitive guitar style. Ivory Bridge™, Dick Kimmel and Co., Stoney
Lonesome, The Couple Downstairs and Alaska's Grass Plus have all
benefitted from Bill's driving rhythm and superb leads and vocals. Bill
still plays that same D18 Martin but he also loves his Brazillian
Rosewood LaPlant guitar. Bill was the 2003 Minnesota State Flatpick
Champion.
Lincoln
Potter ~ was born in Nashville Tennessee and is the son of country music
singer Joyce Paul. In the early 1990's Lincoln moved to Southern California where he formed the progressive Bluegrass Band, Borderline.
He was voted most valuable player in both guitar and vocals at the San
Diego City Fair in 1999.
In addition to his rich, Southern-style lead and harmony vocals
Lincoln's accomplished ability to play a mean Blues flavored harmonica
and his Collings guitar in many diverse styles such as Blues, Swing,
Finger Style and of course Flat Picking gives an added dimension to the
Ivory Bridge™ sound.
Lincoln writes songs which combine hard driving guitar work that
compliment his strong vocal ability. 'Mountain Top' the first song on
the new Ivory Bridge™ release was composed while Lincoln was stuck in
traffic on Interstate 5 in San Diego.
Jim
Tordoff ~ picked up the banjo at an early age. He has a preference for the
arched top Gibson. His sharp wit and bell-toned backup combined with his
driving leads are something wonderful to hear. Jim tells of great
admiration for the legend Bill Hinckley as both teacher and mentor. He
is an alumnus of the Middle Spunk Creek Boys, The Prairie Ferrets,
Wolverines Classic Jazz Orchestra, the Sorry Muthas, and the Minnessota
Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Gunther Schueler. Mr. Tordoff
has also shared the stage with such talents as Bill Hinckley and Judy
Larson, Vassar Clements, Frank Wakefield, Lionel Hampton, Marian
MacPartland, Jabbo Smith, and recently Clay Hess and Mike Cleveland,
just to name a few. Jim also mentioned jamming to the wee hours of the
morning with the late Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir.
Kathe
Liners ~ was introduced to Bluegrass and Bill Liners while they toured
Alaska with the Bluegrass based musical, 'The Robber Bridegroom.'
She fell in love with the music and Bill and they have been together
ever since.
Kat's ability to write songs has already been proven on the Stoney Lonesome compilation CD release of 96/97 self-titled after her
original tune, 'Loves Last Request', and an Acapella number called,
'What My Jesus Done'. The new Ivory Bridge™ release, 'Chase My Blues
Away' will contain several of Liners' originals as well.
